Who are we?

PublicSonar is a spin-off of two Dutch research institutes, TNO and Technical University Delft. In 2011, we conducted research into the fatal disaster at the Pukkelpop music festival. This research proved that online available information could have contributed positively to decision making. However, data can be very overwhelming when tracking incidents, crises or large events. No tools existed to tackle this challenge properly. In 2012, our founders Richard Stronkman and Hans Burghard decided to solve this problem themselves and thus, our company was born (formerly known as Twitcident / CrowdSense).

Since then, we have grown into a diverse company with a multicultural team of specialists in computer and data science and safety. We are passionate and proud that we can serve the public and private sector with our real-time solution. We are assisted by Rob Bertholee, Reinier van der Drift and Joep van Beurden. Together as our Advisory Board, they have rich experience in the public safety domain, entrepreneurship and applied intelligence.
